Across the nation, Scholarship America's programs, including Yelm's Dollars For Scholars chapter, have distributed $4.3 billion to more than 2.6 million students since Scholarship America's founding in 1958. In our own community of Yelm, our chapter has made a very significant impact on the lives of YHS students and their families by raising and distributing over $2.5 million in scholarship awards to Yelm High School graduates pursuing post-high school educational goals.

A Little About Our History

We owe our thanks to Bob and Kathy Wolf who founded the Yelm Community Scholarship Committee in 1960. The first two scholarships awarded were $100 each. Later, the name was changed to Yelm Dollars for Scholars and in 1991 we became an affiliate of Scholarship America. In 2019 DFS awarded $161,000 to 120 students and in 2020 $141,950 to 102 students. Our community is proud of this achievement and how far YDFS has come!

Our program is unique in that it involves the entire community of Yelm! Dollars for Scholars could not be successful without the incredible support from our families, our schools, our businesses and the thousands of individuals that have contributed their time, donations  and efforts throughout the years.
